For the love of Vintage Gloves...

You know I'm crazy about "Fat Books" right?

Well this one indeed is NO exception!!!!

Fat Book = A book made of fabric, bound by ribbon and embellished with every bit of FabUlousness known to mankind.

oooh, did I say FabUlous? Yes, I did!

Only ONE girl comes to mind when I say FabUlous and that would be none other than the hostess of this beautiful swap...

(insert Hollywood lights here)

~ Miss Sandy Navarro of SMN Designs ~

Sandy gathered several girls together and I have to tell you...we totally made some magic with vintage gloves!!!

There were eight participants and each participant made eight embellished fabric pages consisting of a vintage glove in the theme of "Fall".

Once complete, each participant mailed their 8 pages to Sandy.

She then created the covers, inserted a fabric page from each participant, bound  them together and mailed a completed Fat Book to each of the eight participants.

Sounds easy enough right? NOT hardly!

Much time and effort is involved in a swap to this extreme.

MONTHS ago, Sandy contacted a select group of girls. Some agreed without a second thought and some wished they had the time, but declined. After gathering all the participants together through ongoing emails, she set a deadline for returning the pages to her.

Do you get the picture of how much is involved in a Fat Book swap? If so, let's carry on so we can appreciate the beauty in the details...

Opening the book was simply amazing...

Just FabUlous!!!!

It's all in the FabUlous details.

Look what Sandy attached to the front cover...

DSC_0381 (2)

She asked for a childhood photo and I sent her a photo of me when I won QUEEN of the Harvest Festival back in the late '70's.

If you look closely, there IS a crown on my head!!!

{{okay. they picked my name out of a hat}}

But really...who cares "how" they picked me, they picked ME! right?  ;)

Sandy, along with all of the other girls, did a wonderful job and I'm so excited to be a part of this FabUlous Fat Book!!!!

I would like to be excused for now...

I'm going to run my fingers over all of the embellishments and textiles AGAIN!

Jodie, It is so beautiful, thanks for sharing all the pages. I bet the hairs on your neck stand up when you hold it in your hands. Imagine too all the women who wore the gloves before you all created these awesome books.

GORGEOUS! I can't believe so much beauty, similar but totally different! I don't know how you ladies find the time to make all of these pretties! Enjoy your day with your FAT BOOK, HUGS!

That fat book is indeed fabulous, Jodie! I think I would have had a hard time parting with so many pretty gloves, especially since I do have only two pair, lol. Vintage gloves seem to be another item that is harder to find over here, sigh. All the girls did a fantastic job and I can't blame you for your wish to run your fingers over all the wonderful embellishments and textiles again. Have fun :-)!

Julia

Jodie, wonderful swap. It is magnificent. I love the fun things one can do with gloves -- I made a doll & clothes out of old long leather gloves when I was a teen. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful book!

OMG! You opened the freak'in box in record time, Woman! This will go down in Jodie history!! Totally thought I was gonna have to come down there and beat ya with a gator tail!! I know ya'll should have rec'd the books by now but haven't heard from anyone so I was just gonna wait a bit longer. So glad you like it; it was so fun to do but now I'm toast! No more swaps or major projects for the rest of the year for me; I'm on break.

Love ya!

Wow, you all just continue to amaze me with the amount of detail that goes into your work!!!! I just don't have time for such creativity, though mine comes out in different ways. ;)

Gloves... always remind me of my Mom. She always wore them to church in the 1960s and I still have a few of her pairs, that Sarah played around with when she was a little girl. Actually, I too remember wearing dressy gloves to church as a little girl. So cute and pretty.

Have a great weekend,
Linda
