Okay my dear friends, although I've been back home for almost a week now, "we "are still traveling through the Hill Country of Texas!
I didn't lie to you when I told you that the bluebonnets were in bloom and the Texas fields were alive, did I? :)
And just in case you were wondering why the nose of my Suburban is stuck in the corner of this photo above, I always ALWAYS love to put a piece of my vehicle in at least one of the photos...especially on a road trip. Why? (I'm so glad you asked...) So that when years and years and years pass, my grand children and great grand children can look back on these photos as say..."Wow, look at Maw Maw Jo's old car!"
I love looking at my old family photos and admiring the vehicles that they once drove. Cool, huh?
So let's jump back in the Suburban without crushing the bluebonnets and let's get on our way again!!!!
I sure am glad that you and I split the cost of gas on this trip. Those Texas hills are NOT good on my gas mileage...I think I only got like 4 miles to the gallon. I decided to stop here to fill'er up...
but they were closed. Not for good though. Can you believe they open up at 5 pm? I guess that's when this lazy little town comes alive.
I think I would enjoy sitting in that chair on the porch in the shade and watching the cars go by. I'd even enjoy chatting with the locals as they would come in to buy milk and eggs and inquire what they are fixing for dinner. Oh...if only that chair could talk. Can you imagine the people who have walked though those old doors?
And speaking of old doors...what about these?
This area is full of old beauty. Do you know how many times I had to pull over, stop the Suburban, get out on the shoulder of the road and snap a photo? Some of these shots were down right dangerous as I didn't know what was coming up over those hills. 9 times out of 10, it was a U-haul truck as I've never seen so many big-time shoppers in one place in all my life!
Can you imagine reading the morning news with the headline reading "Crazy Cajun from Louisiana gets run over by a Texas U-Haul Semi trucker" ;)
So the heck with finding gas...I needed a drink to calm my nerves! There wasn't any shortage of saloons and taverns...wooo hooo!! ;)
Just kidding as I don't drink and drive...ya'll know that's how I roll!!! ;)
Um...excuse me?
I'm driving here.
You wanna what?
Go shopping?
Oh, okay then...no problem!
What?
No?
Not here?????
I thought you wanted to go shopping!??!
ooooooh...like "side street tent shopping"...I understand now!!!!!!
This little guy below said that we could just park and walk for miles and miles and when we get hungry, we need to be sure and come back to him for a visit! He's got a great Texas size menu!!!
Anything you're looking for in particular?
As long as it fits in the Suburban it's fine with me.
I would have loved to take home most of Mindy's displays...especially that old tin trough. Hmmm....I wonder if all of my velvet ribbon could fit in there???? ;)
And I love this old chippy sink and cabinet found in Debbie's tent.
Oh! And don't forget to look up 'cause you never know what you'll see hanging from the trees!!!!
Now, hasn't this been a fun shopping road trip so far? I think so if I do say so myself...I had soooo much fun.
I had so much fun that I think we should all come back in the Fall. What do you think?
If Warrenton/Round Top is this pretty in the Spring, can you imagine how beautiful it would be in the Fall, dressed with pumpkins and hay and crispy golden leaves???? :))))
I say we mark it on our calendars for another Texas Hill Country road trip this Fall. Do you think we should reserve a U-haul????
Just asking because you know I want everything I see to be...
Mine...all mine!!!!
Or does anyone have one of these we can borrow for the week??? You know, an Airstream or a cute little pink Chief???
Ya know, I guess the Holiday Inn Express will be just fine but this is the reason I like to stay by myself...
I require BOTH beds for all of my stuff and I sleep in one little section of the bed, along with my lap top and iPhone. I am messy and I love to have my things strewn all over the room...only because I don't have to clean it when I leave.
So have you changed your mind on coming back to Round Top with me in the Fall? ;)
Take a load off and think about it for a while...
We have plenty time to decide!!!! :)
Karen, if you are reading this, I'm apologizing in advance for when we room together in Savannah...I hope you can hang with me and I hope you still love me when we get home!!!! ;) (I can't wait!)
Oh, and if you are wondering what all that mess was on the left bed, it was some of the supplies that I brought to make my blog banner for the Blog Party hosted by Theresa of Garden Antiques Vintage. I stayed up until almost 4 in the morning making mine. This is what I had to work with...
and with a little paper and material...
and a little lace, velvet, and metal...
This is what I came up with...
This was a fun-fun all-nighter, all alone in my hotel room...only to lose to this beautiful masterpiece by Theresa of Time Worn Interiors. When she said she was going to win from the beginning, she wasn't lying!!!!! She really won!!!! I was so jealous because she won one a beautiful handmade bag made by Robelyn...I'm just totally jealous...(squinty eyes)
Here are some of the gals with their pretty blog namesakes...
I had the honor of meeting Shelley and she is just such a sweetie! She came up to me and introduced herself...I could have died when she did...she was on my list of friends to meet! Wow!!!
And...I was tickled pink to see Carol again!!!! She was my "hooptie" side kick during a class at Silver Bella...she's such a crazy girl. She was busy being photographer for Where Women Create!! Wow!! So doesn't that make me famous through association? haha By the way...for all those of you who are wondering how Carol is looking since she started her diet here and here...you can tell her that you heard it here...SHE'S LOOKING HOT!
Go Carol! She's such an inspiration!!!!
I didn't get a chance to visit with Theresa or Theresa...they seemed to be busy. I did get a chance to introduce myself but there was no time to chat. I guess that's all part of the rolls they played in being a vendor and providing us with all of this fun. Maybe next time!
Wow this was fun and I hope you enjoyed your trip too!!!!!
I have ONE more place to show you before "we" leave Texas ~ stay tuned.
Hint: it's full of dead people's stuff and it's probably not what you're thinking!!!
Easter Blessings to you all!!!!!

Dear Jodie,
Thanks for taking us along on your road trip ~ your photos are always so lovely.
Glad that you could meet up with some blog friends and what a lot of fun you must have all had.
Love the new look to your blog.
I hope that you are having a lovely Easter.

It's such fun to look at my "world" through your lens. I see things I missed because of my shortsightedness (is that a word?) of getting ready for the show. You remind me to stop and smell the hangdown.
Debbie
Hi, dear Jodie, First of all, I love your new background and blog banner!!! Great colors and lovely lace border!
Did you hear me sighing while I was looking at your pictures? I just love those old wood buildings and the bluebonnets look so pretty! Of course I wanted to walk right into the pictures to check out the goodies you were showing! I'll play the lottery to come with you to Round Top in Fall ...
Ha, ha, I can't believe, no that's not true, I do believe it but it's so funny that you made your contest banner during the night in your hotel room! No wonder that you had a lack of sleep! It turned out gorgeous, I would never be able to be so creative at those hours. What a shame that you didn't win!
xoxo,
Julia
You - my Dear - are an artist with a camera in one hand and a pen in the other.
But! If you think I'm giving up my bed to our junk you can just forget it. The junk will be ALL OVER the floor. OMG! We are going to have such fun! But, I have to keep remembering, I have to get it home . . . on a plane . . . HOW? OH HOW? Loading up a truck is easy . . . . Jodie, how do we get it all home?
When is the Fall event? Do you have a month and date? Now wouldn't that be stinking fun?
Love it all, the photos, the words, the new friends. Very fun!
HUGS! Karen
Yes...Great Minds do think alike, bring a u-haul!!! I WILL go to the fall extravaganza if I can save enough money to fly there or if I'm lucky my hubby can take me in our vintage trailer...that means more junk can come home!! I love the work you did on your header Jodie & the new background you've added to your blog is perfect, great job friend!
Hugs,
Susie

Ah, dear Jodie...I can't tell you how wonderful it was to meet you!!! You are on of the sweetest people I have ever met. Thanks for taking those pictures of the Cemetery...Isn't it just beautiful!! Everyday we would drive by it on the way either to or from our hotel and say..."It's so beautiful, we should take pictures the next time"...yeh, right...the thought of shopping, shopping, shopping or sleep, sleep, sleep always seemed to win..ha ha!
Next time let's spend a little more time together, heh? Talk with you soon!!
Gale
I really apologize for not getting a chance to visit with you, but so glad you got to come to my blog party. If you come back in the Fall, please come early and stop by for a visit. Hope you had a good time and found lots, Theresa
Jodie, the pleasure was all mine meeting you. You are the sweetest person I have met in a long time. I love your blog background, it's to die for ( that's a joke as you love all things death). Your pics are stunning and your style refreshing. Hope you make it to Marburger next time.
Hugs,
Shelley
