Coming out of Hibernation...

DSC_0003 (2)

Waking up early on Friday and Saturday morning, backing out of my garage as the morning sun was coming up over the trees, and heading out to the first yard sales of the Spring...(sigh)

That makes me a happy girl  :)

I'm slowly coming out of my winter hibernation...yard sale by yard sale!

Last weekend was a beautiful weekend. Sunny and crisp, perfect weather to put a spring in my step and a smile on my face. I was ready for "the hunt". (and I'm not talking wildlife here)

On Friday morning, I kidnapped the Man from work for about 15 minutes and he rode with me to two yard sales. He didn't find anything, but I came back with a small little box full of goodies ;) I guess he just came with me for moral support, but something tells me that I think he likes "the hunt" too. He's just too manly to admit it and that's okay with me *wink*wink

Then on Saturday morning, I picked up my yard sale girls and off we went. We had a few sales mapped out but it's amazing how we can spot a yard sale sign a mile away and make a u-turn on the highway in a split second. We hit all the ones in our home town and then we traveled about 25 miles to a small town where they were having a city-wide yard sale. I love these small sales and this little town has them once a month from Spring to Fall. I never know what I might find but I always manage to pick up a few things every time I go such as...

Rip Van Winkle book (with great graphics), two tarnished silver candle stick holders, one linen and lace runner...total $1.60

DSC_0002 (2)

Awesome old kitchen container rub-on labels...total 5 cents

DSC_0007 (2)

Old Sucrets tin, Fire-King cup and saucer, one full size chenille bed spread...total $13.00

DSC_0006 (3)

About 18 jello molds and one saucer...total $1.50

DSC_0009 (2)

A pair of crochet booties and a glass jar with lid...total $1.00

DSC_0005 (2)

Not photographed:

One toaster oven (to bake my clay jewelry charms)...$3.00

12 packs of sewing patterns (for use as tissue paper)...65 cents

Spending the morning with 3 dear friends...priceless!!!!  :)

I have some great ideas for these little items above...now it's just to find the time.

I'm busy working on my Savannah swaps (Jenn's event) right now. I haven't been posting as often as I should. Matter of fact, I haven't even been visiting you as often as I should and I'm sorry. I'm really having fun in my studio right now, creating in my pajamas as often as I can. I promise to catch up with you soon.

I'm planning my art retreats/travel schedule for the next couple of months and making some MAJOR decisions.

If only my real-life work wouldn't get in the way of my play time, my life would be perfect! Just kidding...no matter what you see here in blog land...Nobody's life is PERFECT, right?   ;)

Get out of hibernation and as Tristan always says..."Go create something beautiful"!!!  I just love him!

That is exactly how I feel!

Ah, you can just feel the yard sales in the air!!
Looks like you found some nice little treasures. It must be fun to have a group of friends that love to go along. I can't wait until everyone around here starts having sales again.

Hey, is it spring back there now? How'd you get the yard sales already?! Ours have not started yet but they usually do in March. I still can't believe your prices. OK, here's my real question for you: where do you put all that stuff you buy? I"m running out of space and am passing up our flea market this weekend until I can figure out where I'd put anything new (well, old new I mean). I think I need shelves, too many little things just gets too cluttery in my space. I do envy your finds - what neat items. Can't wait to ssee what you bring back from ol' Savannah!

I can't believe you are already having garage sales. No sales around here yet....I guess it's no fun to sell stuff when you are freezing (although it is starting to warm up).
I love your finds. My favorite has to be the cool kitchen container rub-on labels...for 5 cents!!!

In my mind I've been hunting with you :-)! You found some wonderful stuff and got some great deals, Jodie! I'm looking forward to seeing what you will create with those things. Some years ago I threw away a box full of vintage sewing patterns, sigh.
Have a good night and sweet dreams!

Julia

Wow! Fantastic treasures at just right prices. Unbelievable how you can pay so little for so many goodies. Enjoy every moment. You deserve the time to create and play in your pajamas. I wish I could get creative but its just not happening for me at the moment. I'm happily crocheting away as that is quite easy to do anywhere, anytime. Wishing you many blessings for a beautiful day. Tammy :)

It sounds like a perfect day, and you had some pretty good finds. The best part for me would have been hang'n out with my friends.

A city wide yard sale. Never heard of such a thing - I guess because city's all around me are 45,000 people or more! LOL.
I just paid $1 a piece for old vintage patterns and was thrilled. And that was at a GoodWill!
VERY FUN! If you were closer, or I was closer whichever- I'd've been in that car with you!
Real life does kind of get in the way of playtime, huh? I wish it would stop!
Hugs! Me.

Lucky you! I need a garage sale fix sooooo badly but the snow needs to melt around here before the "season" begins. I can't wait to see the results of the these goodies. Let me know what decisions you make about retreats. I finally signed up for my first one, the creative connection in September, I am so excited! Keep creating girl!!!!

I just love stopping in at your blog and seeing your beauties! You made quite a haul and the prices...my goodness, I think I am moving South! We pay so much more in the Twin Cities but we do have some wonderful sales.
We still have lots of snow on the ground so I will content myself with estate sales until the snow is gone and the yard sales start. Then the great hunt begins!

Jodi' Thanks for stopping by and it prompted me to see what you are up to! And I was floored yes mouth /jaw dropped open.... Now I see just why I am unable to join in a swap that large. I am sure it is fun but I too would get overwhelmed. Looks like you worked things out just lovely. Ok you are now added to my sidebar of favorite places to visit. Had fun snooping around tonight.
