This post is for Pam...

and of course for anyone else that wants to join in! Welcome!

Okay, I am sure there's an abundance of people who inspire you right? Yea, the same with me too and I like to mention them every now and then to let them know that they are read and appreciated.

I have been emailed many times from several readers wondering how my home is decorated, how much is really vintage, etc. Unfortunately, I cannot say I have a vintage home, but I do love it none the less. We built this home almost 6 years ago from a house plan that I fell in love with while visiting Texas. However, I decided not to install a 'fixed' kitchen island as in the original home. I liked the open area since I have plenty counter top space.  My kitchen is octagon shaped with two entrances, one from the dining room and one from the breakfast room. If you'd like, you can click here to see how roomy it was before the table.

Well, since that post in November, Pam has asked me a couple of times to post about the table. I never thought of  it as a big deal. But yesterday when Pam posted about her kitchen, it struck a nerve. I love looking into other blogger homes. I LOVE to look at their decorations. There are some beautiful homes out there!!!

I could spend hours and hours just surfing!!

excuse me, I have a tap on my shoulder, hang on...

Aaaah, hubby just informed me that I DO spend hours & hours! ;)

~I present to you my kitchen island table~

This is how it looks today from the dining room...

And from the breakfast room...

Yes, that is Reese's Peanut butter cups in the center! My fav! And I'm just noticing it's not centered on the rug...errr!

I've had the table since November and we throw everything on top of it so I really can't "decorate" the top because we really use it a lot.

Without crowding it up (because I hate to dust), I'd like to know if this was your table, what would you do with it?

One thing about the table: I will not refinish it as I love the chippy worn look!  And besides, I love the contrast of the antique white on the black walnut cabinets and black granite. It kind of softens the stainless steel too.

Now the suggestions may begin!!!

Who knows, one day the table may end up in my little play room. (I'm sure hubby is keeping his fingers crossed on that one.)

excuse me, another tap on the shoulder, hang on again...

Ooooh, He said if I'm happy, he's happy...ain't he the best? ;)

I sooooooooooooo love the table, I have often wished that instead of a fixed island that a country table would be nice. Your kitchen looks very welcoming, thanks for sharing. I too enjoy being welcomed into a blogger's home and take a peek around. Have a great evening!

Thank you Pam for begging...that table is so worth it.
I wish I had room for a table that size! It is gorgeous and I wouldn't do a single thing to it except enjoy it.

That table is so beautiful...I love it in your kitchen..Love the color too...I wish my kitchen was big enough to fit a table like that... My mouth is watering over those reese's peanut butter cups. Those are my favorite..I even had a secret stash, but I think hubby found them.

Love it! Some red collectible bowls on the down-under shelf and I'd be a happy to transport it to my house!

I love your table! You're lucky - my kitchen isn't big enough to have any sort of island.

I wouldn't do a single thing to it... it is gorgeous!!! Maybe buy yourself a HUGE bouquet of flowers (or better yet, tell hubby) and show it off!

Hooray, I FINALLY get to see that gorgeous table in place. I still can't believe what a wonderful find it was. What about a wire basket full of vintage dish towels and a smaller one for silverware and napkins on the bottom shelf? Maybe a stack of mismatched vintage plates and an ironstone pitcher full of flowers on top. Love it!

I love the details on your table! We brought back a couple of slabs of marble and granite back from Napoli with us (imagine that lol) and your table has really inspired me to do something similar. Thanks for sharing!

Hey! Just a 'thought'.... I think you may want to try it in your 'play room'.... although, I liked it in the kitchen! Very practical... but I know how Thad would rather the open kitchen feel... Where ever you place it Jodie, it will be lovingly enjoyed, and that is what is important and what matters! :) And definitely YES! Thad is a 'keeper' and one of a kind!!!
