Mom, quit creating and come play...

DSC_0032

I know, I've never posted about my little girl...I'm bad. Well, meet Oreo, our 5 pound 5 year old sweetheart. She's a miniature Pomeranian and as sweet as can be. As I play in my craft room, she sits patiently and waits for me to throw her a bone, a ball or her favorite toy so we can play fetch. She places all of her toys under my table and around my feet to remind me that I am preoccupied and that I should be down on the floor playing with her! (she makes me feel sooo guilty!) When I die and move on to my next life, I want to come back as this little queen!

Sooo... I am happy to say that I have been playing in my craft room creating my heart out.

I've had the chance to make some jewelry...this one below is an eyeglass chain for my sister. She stayed with us during the hurricane and I "broke" her reading glasses...Well, I didn't actually break them, she stepped on them after I knocked them off of the table by accident. Hubby super glued them and all is well now, but I figured if her glasses would be around her neck, things like that wouldn't happen! :)

(Just call me the problem-solver!) Viola...hopes she likes it!

Next is some earrings and a bracelet I made for a good friend I used to work with. Her birthday was September 9th. I know, I am late BUT hurricanes Gustav and Ike decided to pay a visit to the gulf coast and wiped out her birthday. So I will deliver this to her tomorrow with a "Sorry I am Late" card...I am sure she will understand.

Today is my husband's birthday & Wednesday (October 1st) will be  mine. Lucky me, he is easy to please...he just wanted to do NOTHING today and that is exactly what we did. Drove me crazy to say the least but I managed! However he says that I am not so easy to please. October starts my "birthday month" as he calls it. I think I am rather easy to please because all I wanted for my birthday this year was to attend  Silver Bella and that alone is a gift in itself.  (Since Silver Bella is in November, I'll just settle and declare this time of year my "birthday quarter")...How 'bout that?

Happy Birthday to ya Thad...I love you!!!!

My favorite time of the year...

So therefore, I am taking some time today to post my Autumn inspirations throughout my home. With all of the "busy-ness" of the past summer days, it was nice to wake with a breezy morning. Fall rejuvenates my soul and it is a season that patiently awaits a hibernation of rest and nesting for the cold winter months that soon will follow. A season of preparation and change no doubt.

It's the season for high school football, parades and bonfires.

It's the season for tricks and treats...

pumpkins and candy, and all that is sweet.

The burst of new color is so vibrant but yet so warm...

It's the combination of life trying to survive to the bitter end and the arrival of death preceding the birth of winter.

It's a wonderful time for family gatherings around the table and the smell of pumpkin pie and cinnamon...

Oh how I love Fall, it's my favorite season of the year. I long for the colors, the smells, the long shadows of the days and the cool temperatures of the evenings.

I anticipate sitting outside near the fire pit, being mesmerized by the flames as the shortened days of Autumn fall upon me...

Thanks for sharing my Autumn inspiration with me...I hope you enjoy the season as much as I do.

Strike #2 in 2 Weeks...

DSC_0232

Well friends, I am definitely TIRED  of the "H" word...Hurricane that is. If this post is misspelled and jumbled, it is only because I am posting with ALOT of Crown Royal & diet coke in my system because of two reasons...If someone mentions "generator" or "weather channel" again, I will just have to take matters in my own hands and put them out! We survived another hurricane in all of 2 weeks. Don't get me wrong...I am soooo thankful we are okay again! I am just...tired to say the least. I have not been creative, I have not watched Gray's Anatomy, and I have not been to Hobby Lobby in the past 4 weeks...augh! I am in TOTAL  withdrawal mode! I haven't even been able to pick up my latest copy of Somerset's Holidays & Celebrations nor Belle Armoire Jewelry! Are you feeling me yet? However, I have my cable up and running again and my only sanity is reading all of my wonderful daily blogs & having my family here from Texas, including my new little niece Ella Jane all snug in her baby bed...

PS... the picture below is from my make-shift emergency clothesline...it's little Ella Jane's clothes we had to dry outside because of NO electricity after the storm...what an eye opening experience and such a delight! (And, Yes. I am spoiling her every minute I have with her!!!!) :)

Ella Jane is Here!!!

ella

My little niece has arrived...

9lbs 9oz. born Thursday, September 4th

I am so blessed that I was able to travel to Texas and be present to share this wonderful little miracle God has blessed my little brother and his wife with. My little brother's life has changed as he knew it, all in a matter of 24 hours. He had no idea how much joy this little soul would bring to his life until he put her in his arms.

And as he stared through the nursery glass...

             His life has changed

Little did I know how much my life changed also when I stood behind him and watched him gaze upon this angel he has brought into this world for all of us to love!

Little Ella Jane is just so beautiful, so perfect.

She has her mother's dimples when she smiles...

              Sweet Mom

She loves her pacifier, but this one only & no others...

ella's sleeping

She's so happy all of the time, she doesn't cry unless she has a poopy diaper...

ella's home

She doesn't like her arms in the blanket...(above is a RARE photo)

welcome home parents

My little brother and his wife with Ella Jane... two proud parents and a princess

Proud Dad

And I was a proud aunt who hated to leave her today...

We're Okay!

Just a short note to let everyone know that we survived Gustav without a scratch! With a few shingles missing off the gazebo/patio area, we were very fortunate. The eye of the hurricane passed right near us as a category 2. We must have been on the good side (if there is any good side) because this hurricane was minor compared to the two last ones we had within the last five years. However, there was substantial damage and at least two deaths within 10 miles from where I live.  I live in Eunice, which is directly South Central Louisiana and the eye was right upon us, but at an angle instead of a direct northern hit. I only took one picture of the back yard because it was too hard to open the door without it swinging open with the wind & pressure...

CSC_0044 We were without electricity for about 24 hours. Some will be out at least until the weekend. Our generator kept us cool and comfortable. As I write this on Live Writer, do not have internet yet. I can't wait to catch up on everyone's daily posts!

All in all, we are fine and I thank all of you for emailing me and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Now we are praying for those who will be in contact with hurricane Hanna that will soon hit the eastern coast and hurricane Ike which I don't know where he is going as of now...I am sooo burnt out on watching the weather channel! It is so addicting to watch when there is a hurricane approaching. I watch it until we loose power, get stress out, & get sleep deprived! If you don't hear from me soon, I am catching up on my most needed rest and then back to work to make up for the days we were closed!!!!

Hope everyone had a better Labor Day Weekend than me...although I am thankful to be posting this today!

PS...I'm also thankful and happy to say that although I missed my computer and reading everyone's blog posts, I was able to sign up for one Silver Bella Swap before it was full and I am still anxiously awaiting the birth of my niece/nephew!
