Come Spend the Day with Me & the Girls...& My Handsome Brother~in~law :)

DSC_0219

Gosh. I just had to post about this day.

I know I usually post about junk finds, art, cemeteries or my travels but this was such an awesome day, I really wanted to take you with me!!!

On Thursday, The Man was SA~WEET enough to give me the WHOLE day off and let me spend it with some of my favorite girls (two of my aunts and two of my sisters) & my sweet brother in law (who put up with 5 women all day and mixed right in with the best of us!! He's a keeper)

Auntie Belva was the most gracious host and totally spoiled us from the moment we walked in. It was so nice to spend time with my Mom's sisters and my sisters too.

My cheeks were sore from all of the laughing and funny stories we shared...what a special day of memories!

Auntie Belva's house should be published in Southern Living magazine...no lie I tell ya!!

DSC_0192

Although it is a brand new home, it reflects so much of our Southern heritage and it just feels like "home".

It really is hard to get up and leave...trust me.

DSC_0227

Auntie Belva was waiting for us for lunch, but I'll call this "brunch" as I started stuffing my face the moment I walked in.

I mean really now, like who could resist all of these goodies?

Some wine, fresh strawberries and homemade bruschetta bread...

DSC_0179 (2)

um hum...I told ya so.

So here's a glass of wine for you. Cheers!

DSC_0188

Oh and there's more!

a yummy cold, crisp, hand tossed salad...

DSC_0183 (3)

chips and spinach dip, deviled eggs, boiled shrimp marinated in scampi sauce and tuna...y.u.m.m.y.

DSC_0180 (2)

All of this was just perfect for my little fat fingers ;)

Here. Penny fixed you a plate so that I won't be the only one that's stuffing my face!!! ;)

DSC_0197 (2)

Have a seat in the sun room and relax.

Enjoy.

But don't forget to save some room for dessert.

DSC_0195 (2)

It was wonderful wasn't it?

Let all that yummy-ness go down and soon we'll eat a scoop of this below.

I don't remember what it was called but it consisted of chocolate, creamy stuff and pecans.

(she had me at chocolate, I didn't hear anything else)

Trust me, it was delicious!

DSC_0184 (2)

What the heck?

Where are you going?

DSC_0201 (2)

No no...NO nap for you!

Come on, let's get some fresh air and walk around Auntie Belva's beautiful gardens.

THEN we'll come back in and scoop up some of that delicious dessert!

Deal?

Alrighty then!   :)

Louisiana Magnolia trees and buried clay pots...

DSC_0215

a glorious garden statue surrounded by knock~out roses...

DSC_0209 (2)

lots and lots of color everywhere...

DSC_0210

not to mention the beautiful greenery flowing through the beds...

DSC_0211

and more buried treasures...

DSC_0212

I sure wish I could lie to you and tell you that this was MY beautiful home...but sadly I can't take credit for any of it.

So, since I'm pouty, let's go pig out on that dessert, okay? yay!!!!

Seriously though, this was such an awesome day.

I've been traveling so much lately that it was so nice to sit and visit with family.

I miss that.

On this day, I reflected on two things that I need to do more often...

Give lots and lots of hugs and kisses

&

Tell those who are close to your heart that you love them dearly.

DSC_0221

The only thing missing on this day was our Mom but somehow, her presence was there in every beautiful thing we laid our eyes on. And, I really do believe that she had something to do with each smile that we had on our face that day...

DSC_0230

Auntie Belva, sis Penny, sis Karen & moi (the black sheep)

(Auntie Gloria Ann left before I remembered to take a group photo, I'm so sad about that)

And remember I mentioned my handsome brother~in~law?

I gotta brag on him too. I still think he married the wrong sister ;)

(just kidding Karen!)

Brother~in~law Bill, Auntie Belva, & sis Karen

Yep...I really do think I see Mom in their smiles!!!!

:)

Thank you for sharing my day with the girls...

(& brother~in~law too)!!!

Now in that last photo...is that Auntie on the right or in the middle...has to be on the right. Only a goddess could make everything that beautiful. I'm happy you had such a wonderful day. That makes ME happy!

P.S. When I saw your title, I thought you meant the other girls.
P.P.S. See if you can steal, I mean borrow that recipe with the tuna. That looked Fab U Lous! While you're at it...might as well get the dessert recipe too!

Thanks for the wine but it's a bit too early for me (7 am). Maybe tonight :-)! I could have some of the bruscetta though. It sounds and looks like you had an awesome day, Jodie. Good for you, girl! Now tell me, is your aunt a Saints fan like you or does she just love fleur-de-lis or did you give her the bowl holder for Christmas?

Chocolate, creamy stuff and pecans? That sounds like a dessert I could jump right into. Hey, you can't have all the fun without us and then not even share one of aunt Bevlas secret recipes ;-)!

F1 is in Monaco this weekend. Will you watch?

Have a great Saturday and good luck for the garage sales in case you plan to check some out.

Big hugs,
Julia

Dearest Jodie-

We must have been separated at birth.
There is NOTHING I love better than being with my aunts, looking at things together (home, garden, collections) and eating good family food.

I too miss/see my mother in their faces.

Love you lots-

Laura

Jodie girl,
Sorry I did not see this post. Just wrapped up in my issues lately. LOL I love this little tour of Aunt Belva's home. She looks like such a gentile southern woman, with her sweet hat & all. I can tell by the picture of you all that you ARE the black sheep. Do you realize how rare & freakin' awesome black sheep are? And you my sweet Cajun nut, are rare & amazing. Happy Belated Day.

PS I cryed for my Mom too.
