A Different Kind of Tag Book...

"May thy Birthdays be life's golden milestones"

Today was the birthday of one of my oldest friends. Let me rephrase that ~ she's not really my "oldest" friend, we've just been friends for a very LONG time. We've worked together, played together, laughed together, cried together, and have always been there for one another. She's that kind of friend.

Together we've watched our children grow up and start their own lives and we've watched our parent(s) become ill and pass away. She is always putting me up on a pedestal and always there with a shoulder when I'm down for whatever reasons life has brought me. She's that kind of friend.

She's old enough to be my mother, young enough at heart to keep me totally entertained. Crazy enough to make me laugh and wise enough to guide me and teach me. She's that kind of friend.

We can tell each other anything and everything like..."Jodie, my birthday is coming up and I need some new earrings. Can you make me some more?" I just smiled and said "Sure...anything for you, friend." Then frantically last night (yes, I do tend to procrastinate & I work better under pressure ;)  I whip up these earrings and cards and think...how will I wrap these for my special friend? Hmmm...they are too beautiful to wrap, how about I just punch a hole and tie them together for a different kind of tag book. If you've been visiting me here often, somehow I'm sure you know by now that I like to do things a little differently.

I have to say...she loved it  :)

She's that kind of friend that just "gets me".

I hope God has blessed you with a friend like that in your life. I am fortunate since He has blessed me with many...including you!

Jodie, these are wonderful. The earrings are gorgeous, but the tags just MAKE the presentation. What a dear friend you are, and are blessed to have!

Oh what wonderful sights for the eyes on your blog. I am so glad for you to have a friend like that. My best friend is younger than I and still working. I am retired and older than dirt and miss her terrible. I could still be working at 71 but when they took my job 60 miles away into the city I decided not to go. She went. Now the work force is cut back so far she is overworked and over tired and can't even find time to spend with me. I still love her dearly. I can promise you your younger friend has learned much from you too.

I am at a loss for words and you know that doesn't happen to me very often. This was just a beautiful post to read and I want to thank you first for sharing it. I hope I am included in the "yous" at the bottom because I would be honored to be.
Second, the earrings are wonderful, but it's the love you included that makes this gift stand out! You put so much thought into pleasing her. Your words put her on a pedestal too!
I am always amazed at your talent and creativity...especially from someone who doesn't use glitter!
Debbie
P.S. That wasn't a riddle...just my lame attempt at being clever!

Your words remember me of a teacher in high school, who told us that you really needed just one friend in life, one real friend. People might have a few hundred friends that are only 'hello'-sayers, but cherish this one real friend, he or she makes life!
I have 4 very special friends, one of them, my cousin, since she was born 14 days after me, one other since we were 3!
Happy birthday to your very special friend! You have made her some very special gifts that show her importance to you. So sweet!

Jodie,
You constantly amaze me. I keep thinking I'm creating something good, but when I see something as wonderful and generous as this, I know I have a very long way to go. The cards are as beautiful, if not more, as the earrings. What a great gift for what sounds to me a great friend.
