Noel a la Maison LeJeune ~ Chapter Four

Born and raised in Southern Louisiana,

we LOVE our New Orleans Saints football.

Whether it was growing up watching the football games with paper bags over our faces or watching them win the Super Bowl this past season, the Saints were always "our" team...

{{{no matter what}}}

Season before last, I bought a 7 foot black Christmas tree at the "after Christmas sale".

I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.

Right before football season started last year, I fluffed the tree next to our big screen tv in the living room.

I glittered some black and gold balls with our favorite Saint's players and some balls with a fleur de lis.

I proudly decorated our "Saints Tree" and there it stood the whole season, through the Super Bowl and it is still standing today. I've never taken it down. Can you imagine having to dust each ball on the tree? whew!!!!

However for this holiday, I went a teeny bit further!

I moved our "Saints Tree" to the breakfast room and decorated the WHOLE room in black and gold!

This room is small but the tree fit perfectly in the corner.

I've inherited my parent's 70" round table and chairs that hold MANY memories of the six of us kids growing up, spilling milk, doing our homework, not eating all of our vegetables, etc.

Every time I look at the table, I smile and remember how many times I couldn't get up until everyone was finished eating because I didn't eat my black-eyed peas. For the life of me, I never knew why Mom put them in my plate in the first place...she knew I couldn't stand the sight of them! ;)

DSC_0383 (2)

I set the table with four place settings using a simple black place mat, a white dish, a black and gold mug filled with gold beads and a white feather for accent.

In the center of each plate, I placed a gold fleur de lis ornament.

In the center of the table is a lazy susan filled with three candles that I wrapped with black and gold ribbon and hot glued a gold tassel.  I placed various sizes of black and gold balls in the center to complete my table centerpiece.

I also inherited my parent's old hutch which is now my liquor and wine cabinet.

I removed all the wine from the top of the hutch and placed my gold Christmas reindeer up there.

I tied the same black and gold ribbons around their necks as the ones that I glued on the candles on the table.

I placed a white feather in each collar to add an elegant touch.

On the open shelf of the hutch, I just gathered some black and gold items that I had in other parts of the house and grouped them here to continue to the black and gold theme.

And last but not least, on the back door in the breakfast room I placed a Saints wreath that Sarah made for me last year.

It's been hanging on the back door inside the living room so I moved it to the breakfast room for the holiday season.

I just LOVE our Louisiana heritage and

our Cajun culture.

I LOVE our Saints football too...

Black and Gold just "fits" into our Christmas home perfectly...don't you think so too?

I just may leave this room like this forever :)))

Jodie I am a Saint's fan from long ago. When I lived in NO they were a new team and not so great but I've continued to have some Black and Gold love. Your Saints tree, wreath and decor is fab!

Jodie,
That's the classiest homage to a football team I have every seen! It's really lovely.

I once left my Christmas tree up for the whole year, so I'd say it wasn't odd, but for me it was and that's a story for another time!

I am so enjoying your house decor chapters! xo

Alas, none of my decorations are really coordinated like that, but I still like them. :)

I haven't been around much in keeping up, too much going on and it's enough for me to try to write on my blog, but I still love ya and hope you are having a really wonderful December.

What a great theme and again the decor is just beautiful! You must be exhausted! And yes, I purchased my very last gift on my list today. Now I need to wrap and get my craft on to finish up gifts I am making! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Gorgeous Jodie. I think this is my favorite room yet! Of course I can't wait to see your beautiful kitchen. I guess Bengals colors wouldn't work well for Christmas decor, everyone would think I had never taken down my Halloween decorations.

Knock knock,

loser,
loser who?
Your loser friend who just read all your posts!
Seriously, you knocked yourself out here. I'll be willing to bet yours was the BEST house on the tour. You at least had the cutest little four legged tour guide of all.
Love the way the front door looks, how inviting. Love your Saints tribute. That should get you box seats at the dome, don't cha think? I'll sending Reggie Bush the link to your blog.
Did you know we have the same SAnta head as the one in your bath? It hangs over our mantel. I tell the kids that Santa is watching everything they do!
It's all beautiful & I'm honored to see your put a little Lisa Marie in the mix!

The Saints room is the bomb!!!
You reminded of a funny memory - I would always as my Grandma to make me black-eyed peas for supper growing up. Funny that it evokes opposite memories for both us, lol!
Sending you Merry Christmas and warm winter wishes.
