One post ~ One short story...

Me? A short story? never.

I know you are thinking that I can NOT write a short story to save my life.  And for the 99% of you that agree with that, you are correct and you know me well!

I'm going to "try" and keep this short and sa-weet because I have a lot going on this week.

PLUS...what happens in Texas really does stay in Texas! ;)

So this is my short story about my weekend in Warrenton ~ Round Top, Texas (and I'm stickin' to it)

~

CHAPTER ONE

~

Once upon a HOT Autumn day, a little Cajun girl was lost in the antique fields of the Lone Star State.

DSC_0006 (2)

CUT: She wasn't really "lost" in the fields.

She learned from the best of how to find her way around in the huge sea of rust and chippy-ness, thanks to her fairy junk mother. She knew exactly where to park, where to eat, where to shop, and who to see.

DSC_0008 (2)

However, the little Cajun girl wasn't all alone.

A quest of one shortly turned into a quest of four...

DSC_0033 (2)

Beth, Karla, Me, & Lisa

They traveled bravely through narrow highways, dusty fields and very hot temperatures on the lookout for this...

DSC_0017 (2)

and this...

DSC_0055 (2)

They found quite a lot of beautiful things, got lost, ran out of money, borrowed money from each other, wrote lots of checks, used plastic where available and lugged shopping carts full of goodies for miles and miles ... and proudly I might add.

DSC_0046 (2)

CUT: The Cajun girl bought a FaBuLouS vintage Clark's spool cabinet, thanks to the keen eye of Lisa Marie.

It is still in the back of the Suburban and it so deserves a post of it's own which will be coming soon ;)

Everything they looked at was screaming to them "Take me Home".

They could hardly hear themselves think.

DSC_0012 (2)

So darn tempting but it was so early yet...they still had two full days of shopping ahead of them!

Okay...maybe one or two more (little) things won't hurt, right?

(note the little fingers on the bottom left below. Sold!)

DSC_0010 (2)

The little Cajun girl was just ecstatic looking at all the beautiful things in tent after tent, mile after mile.

She could barely keep up with the others and certainly could have plopped herself on this beautiful sofa for a short nap.

She even thought about taking it home several times, but then someone would have had to sit on the roof to get back home.

DSC_0020

She huffed and puffed and kept on walking in fear of missing out on the deal of the century.

CUT: Because the little Cajun girl's friends were so generous, they shared their finds with her when she whined about them finding the good stuff first.

The rule of "I saw it first" did not apply when she was around ;)

DSC_0036 (2)

Whispers of her being a "big baby" were heard behind her back, but that was okay...she didn't mind ;)

She walked with her camera in hand and was just as content at capturing all of the beauty that surrounded her with every step she took.

DSC_0016 (2)

The little Cajun girl had some big shoes to fill as she promised a good story with lots of photos to share upon her return to blog land.

DSC_0015 (2)

Catching a second wind of energy, the quest of four turned into a quest of six as they were accompanied by Anne as they made their way to the Blog Party Queen, Miss Theresa of Garden Vintage Antiques...

DSC_0043 (2)

Lisa, Karla, Anne, Beth, Me & Theresa

CUT: Karla is not napping. My photos of us are limited as her eyes are always closed during a photo op ;)

Soon the little Cajun girl and her friends were off shopping once more...

DSC_0050 (2)

And after viewing the photos in her camera once she returned home, she sat and cried because she forgot to go back and pick up a few of her favorite items that she was debating on.

One of which was this beautiful vintage thread box filled with tatting...

DSC_0040 (3)

And the other was this old Smithsonian box...

DSC_0058 (2)

(sniff sniff)

While looking through other inspirational photos that she had taken, such as this one below, the little Cajun girl seemed to get over her sadness rather quickly...

DSC_0048 (2)

{sigh}

Everything was so beautiful.

Speaking of beautiful, the little Cajun girl had the honor of spending some quality time with her first blog friend ever...

Suzanne and her beautiful daughter, Elizabeth...

DSC_0095 (2)

CUT:  These two girls are just FaBuLouS in every way!!!! I loved LOVED hanging out with them. They have such a beautiful Mother-Daughter relationship...they totally make me smile!

~

CHAPTER TWO

~

Who said that Antiques Week was just for shopping?

There was a party to go to every night!!!

Friday night was at Clutters in Warrenton...

The little Cajun girl had a date with the lace!

DSC_0004 (2)

Saturday night was at Leftover's in Brenham...

It was a photographer's dream!

DSC_0083 (2)

and Sunday night was the event of the season...

~The Blog Party at Zapp Hall~

Hosted by Theresa, this was the biggest blog party yet.

Special guest of honor was the famous Carolyn Westbrook!

DSC_0108

She was signing her new book and yes, the little Cajun girl got her very own signed copy!

Other "famous" attendees were:

Vintage Susie who traveled solo from Southern California to come play!!!!

DSC_0116 (2)

Gwen from French by Design...

Dang! I love this girl!!! Oui Oui!!!

DSC_0114 (2)

Robelyn and Malisa...Two of my favorite CRAZY girls!!!

DSC_0111 (2)

Meet my Louisiana twin (haha)

Adrienne...Miss Louisiana!

DSC_0118 (2)

And as much as I hate to show myself, here I am again with my favorite girls...

Susan, Elizabeth, Me and Suzanne

DSC_0112 (2)

I'll be so honest with you. I was SO busy hugging and talking with everyone, I really didn't take many photos with my own camera, so many of my friends are not shown here :*(

HOWEVER...

I bet if you click here, there will be lots of photos for you to enjoy if you wish to be "more nosey".

Amy was clicking away at the party and after all, she IS a FaBuLouS photographer so you can't go wrong with a click to go see what beans she's going to spill!!!

DSC_0106 (2)

Until next time, this little Cajun girl is tired but she's one busy baby this week...

I returned from Texas yesterday, today is/was The Man's birthday, our high school Homecoming is all this week and also, it's The Man's 25th class reunion this weekend. whew.

FRIDAY, October 1st is my 4oth birthday!

So needless to say, we have parades and parties to go to :)))

I'll be back here as soon as I can. Matter of fact, I still have to show you all what I came home with. Everything is still in the back of the Suburban. Even my suitcase(s). All I've done since I've returned home was open a new toothbrush to use...the rest can wait to be unloaded ;)

Until then, have a wonderful week and click on all the blogs above. Everyone has a story to tell and some of those gals are still over there having fun. The show doesn't end until Sunday so I'm sure there is still lots of partying going on!!!!

I can't wait until the Spring to go again :)))

THE END.

(Well, not really. I still have some more beans to share.)

Some um-um good beans!

Enjoyed your a'hem "Short" story!! :) As I read along and enjoyed all of the photos, I kept wondering where in the world do you find such great places to visit and how do you know all of these people??? I have one close friend, that's basically it and my weekends are spent solely with my husband and our family. But.... I would love to visit such sales ~ we have nothing that even comes close to that here.

Hope you have a great remainder of the week! :)
