I know that I'm supposed be closing up my stories about my (August) road trip to Texas but...this is really some breaking and exciting news!
My sweet blogging buddy, Susan deGeneres of Susan deGeneres Studio left me a comment the other day telling me that Julia of Vintage with Laces was published in the October issue of Romantic Homes Magazine.
As you know, I've been so busy getting ready for one trip, coming back from another and finishing swaps, heck...I don't even know what month it is sometimes!
Soooooo, after going through about 160 emails (which I've been a bad girl and haven't responded to any of them, please forgive me), I re-read Susan's comment and rushed out the door in search of finding my copy.
I was in for a HUGE surprise when I turned to page 13.
Julia lives in Germany and although she is "physically" very far from me, she's never far from my heart.
Through this wonderful world of blogging, Julia and I keep in touch on a regular basis through our blogs and email, even through long distance phone calls (I just love her beautiful accent!). We've shared art from our hearts with one another and I've cherished each and every piece she's sent me.
And this is no exception as I stared at the magazine with my mouth wide open. To see a snippet of the beautiful velvet bag that she made for just for me made my heart skip a beat (or two, or three).
In the middle of Barnes & Noble, I thought I was going to have a massive heart attack!
There, in color, is the photo of a section of the beautiful velvet bag that Julia made just for me, including a tattered tag with my initials and a metal finding, stamped with the number 70...the year I was born.
Julia spared NO details on this bag!
And to make things MORE sentimental, she's published in the OCTOBER issue of Romantic Homes...that's my BIRTHDAY MONTH!
yep...I was about to have a massive coronary in front of 3 teenage boys looking at dirt bike magazines. They would have never understood, you think?
Well, if that weren't enough...this morning I finally had the chance to sit and read the rest of the magazine and found another wonderful friend who was published also...
Heather of Pretty Petals! I met Heather three years ago. She was one of the first blogs that I fell in love with. Shortly thereafter, I was fortunate enough to meet her in person and the rest is history!
I'm so excited to be able to call these "famous" girls my friends.
This world of blogging can create many wonderful things such as friendships, inspiration, and memories.
I've been published twice, including some currently in the works. Being published is such a great honor and it's something to be very proud of. I don't look at it in the sense of the "bragging" aspect, but of the humbleness that someone has thought of my work as worthy enough to be shared with those who appreciate it.
I totally feel their excitement!
Now it's Friday and I simply cannot take any more surprises. I had to lay the magazine down for another day so if you are in it too...please give me a day or so to let my heart get back to normal as I'm sure you wouldn't want to be the cause of my "real" massive coronary!!!
:)
Have a wonderful weekend!
(coming up next is the finale @ Chantal's!)

Its always great to see talented people get the recognition they deserve...although I'm sure none of them would want you to have heart failure!

You could not be more precious!
I felt this very way when our friend Rebecca Ersfield gave me her vintage dress form...I am building an entire room for her!
At the time though...I literally felt my heart beat as if I had ran a marathon!
I am doing a blog post series on the girl and the room!
The story about that amazing bag being for you...well, it's tear worthy my friend!
Have an amazing weekend!
Hugs,
Donna
I'm so happy to have sent along the info. about Julia's big debut. I was standing at the magazine rack flipping through, you know you can never just go straight to the checkout, and suddenly I heard myself exclaim outloud..."Hey, I know her!"
Of course I had to rush home and tell everyone about it. Luckily I had just finished revamping my blog after a lengthy absence this summer and it was there ready to spread the word. Don't you just love that about blogging?
Hugs,
Susan

What a great newsflash/congrats to your wonderful friends! We are getting near birthday month, aren't we!!!
I'm off to Barnes and Noble to get me a copy! Love both of those girls! Took a few of Heather's classes on line. Very fun.
And you know how I feel about Julia. There is just a special bond there.
LOVE THIS! SO glad you shared!
HUGS! Me.
My husband has caught me saying "I know her" a few times too, about people I've never met, but read on blogs, and done a swap or a fat book, or -oh happy day- responded to one of MY posts. OK, I don't REALLY know them. But I am so happy to magazines with my 'friends' from blogland.
Do we need to send the "hunky" paremedics to your house for some resusitation????
My goodness Jodie, you do rub elbows with the famous, that's for sure. Congrats to all these wonderful bloggerettes and their special talents.
Can't wait for you to announce your next big reveal.
hugs

Hello Jodie, OH you are such a sweetie! I loved hearing about your friendship with Julia all the way in Germany. It is really SO wonderful how blogs allow us to make friends all over the world. Who would have ever thought that the internet could bring such joy to peoples lives.
I LOVE the bag that Julia made for you... I looked at the post you linked to. It was gorgeous and seemed like it was just PERFECT for you!! that photo of the little snippet is so pretty.
Thank you for your sweet words about my blog ... ;))... I just love you Jodie! You are one of the nicest ladies here in blogland. Thanks for sharing in the excitement!
xoxo Heather

I have this magazine! How cool for you! I'll have to go back through it and look for her feature and your bag. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Jodie, you are SO SWEET! Did you have the bag with you when you bought the magazine, lol? Next time you go buy a magazine, you better take some heart medicine with you ;-).
I cherish all your wonderful gifts as well! Your gorgeous pocket wall hanging is on my studio wall, holding my brushes. Just yesterday I wore your awesome necklace again and told Lisa that her beautiful bottle stands side by side with the sugar sprinkler filled with Spanish moss, that you had sent me :-).
Thank you for your friendship!!! I'm very happy that we met through blogging and hopefully one day we will meet each other in person!!!
Big hugs,
Julia
I was so excited to see both Heather and Julia featured in RH too. I love those girls so much. What amazing talents they are.
I have loved reading your last couple of posts here Jodie about your killer trip. You are so lucky to be going to Texas again. I so hope I can get there someday. I can't wait to read about the fun and the people you meet. I have a favor...will you give Shelley (sweetpea) a special hug for me.
She is sooo special to me. I wish I could hug her myself. Have you met her? She is one special and humble lady.
Please travel safely dearest. And have a ton of fun!!!!
hugs to you from here...
Jodie, I know how excited you were, I felt the same when I saw the articles!!! It is so nice to see the names of friends and fellow bloggers in these gorgeous magazine articles!!! I sure I scare people, I practically shout and show everyone in the middle of the bookstore...I am holding out the magazine and saying....I know this girl, we blog together!!!!
Such love!

I so wish we could get that magazine here in the UK. I often hear of people whose blogs I follow being published in the magazine, and it would be so exciting to see their work not just on the computer screen but also in print. I have been following Julia's blog for a while now and totally adore her work, she is so talented. I can imagine how you must have felt seeing your bag in the magazine, I think I would have made a right idiot of myself, dancing around, and whooping, lol.
CC, you are the most wonderful cheerleader in the world. I love how you get excited for others in their successes (maybe this is why you are such a huge success) and share it with the world. You're the best and I'll agree...that's some major talent!
Debbie
I too have met a few fellow bloggers at the shop ~ giving me a moment where my heart beat a bit faster and my palms got sweaty! Also made me ask my fellow shop girls if I looked like a stalker or something!! I love the way you gush about your friends Jodie! Hey...October is my birthday month too!!!
Hey Jodie girl! I am trying to catch up with blogs right now. With back to work and school, not finding as much time to do all that I want. I need a few more hours in each day. You sure are busy and in a short time you are on the road again. I don't know how you do it. We went to India for 5 days and that's put me way behind on everything. Love that 5 & 10 -- would be so much fun to shop there for sure. Wish I could find Romantic Homes here -- hard to find any good magazines these days. Hope you are having a great weekend. :) Tammy
Hi Jody, I'm sorry I haven't visited all summer. CRAZY! I'm glad I'm here now. Wow, there seems to be a party going on. Romantic Homes was my only favorite magazine until I found Sumerset. I will check out your friends blogs.
comevisit

This is such a beautiful, heartfelt post. You are so lucky to have found such a kindred spirit through your blog, and I am sure Julia would say the same. I understand what you mean about being humbled but I also know how beautiful your work is and how deserving you are. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey girlfriend,
I don't wanna make you jealous or anything but.........I got to speak (on the phone) with our girl of the Baltic Sea. Yes I did. Okay, I know you beat to that one, but I was thrilled. I'm sure which one of you is harder to understand LOL. Congrats to sweet Julia she deserves it. Did you see Claudia last month? Lisa
I have just "found" your blog and so love it!! I am so envious of all the gorgeous magazines you have in USA. Here in Ireland it is way too costly to order them...postage is horrenduous so I read as many as I can on-line, and bribe friends to bring them home when they're on holiday. You now are in my favourites so I'll be back....often!!
Yes, I saw those sweet little bags in Romantic Homes and loved them. Congratulations to Julia! How exciting!
How excited you must've been!! I gotta run out and get a copy of that magazine now....
Jodie,
That is so exciting! I can see why you almost ad a hart attack right then and there! I am so excited that you will be printed again soon!
Hugs,
Suz
Don't you just love when that happens! So after reading your post, I was standing in line @ Joann's and had to tell the person next to me that I KNOW the receiver of this amazing piece of work! So cool!
So exciting and it is a small world! But, please, no heart attacks.....we would miss you!!
How cool! That is exciting!!! Hope you were able to get your heart into a normal rhythm again!!!
