My Pretty Pocket Swap was Delivered...

So I guess that gives me bragging rights to post the goodies that I sent to my swap partner Leslie...

DSC_0240 (2)

in the wonderfully fun Pretty Pocket Swap hosted by the sweet and oh so very talented Jessica...

pocket swap

So are you ready for the details?

I showed you a sneak peek a few posts ago here but now I'm ready to spill the beans the beauty with all of you ;)

Imagine not one, but two of these crocheted pockets...

DSC_0238 (2)

and one big blinged-out chenille and tassel-trimmed pocket...

DSC_0241 (2)

sewn on the quilt that I cut up here...

and you get this pretty pockets wall hanger!!!

DSC_0294

(If you read my post about me cutting up perfectly beautiful quilts...let me remind you that I am SO into re-purposing anything at ANY cost!) haha

Using the two quilts, I made the backing and the bottom pocket.

For the large pocket, I added some tassel trim at the bottom and some metal eyelet hooks and closures to the top of the pocket corners. This made it possible for everything to be tucked in nicely and can be adjusted for a "fatter" pocket if needed.

DSC_0294 (2)

I made the two smaller pockets out of round crocheted doilies folded in a half circle, letting the upper half fold over the front.

DSC_0277 (2)

I hand stamped some white rose petals, inked the edges and placed them behind a vintage velvet flower plucked from a vintage hat.

I added some seam binding and a touch of bling for the center.

DSC_0304 (2)

The "hanger" is a vintage wooden handle most typically used for a purse or a large bag. Cool huh?

DSC_0305 (2)

Then for the "centerpiece" and focal point, I printed Leslie's blog header onto material and sewed it onto a crocheted doily and then onto to the quilt. I embellished it with pearls and vintage velvet millinery from an old hat. I added a metal doorbell plate embellished with a small silver ornate frame.

I dotted the "i" in "Girl" with a vintage rhinestone.

(I love the touchy textured feel)

DSC_0307 (2)

Now for the fun stuff :)

We were to stuff the pockets with goodies!!!

I really tried my best to stuff them good, trust me ;)

I sent her some bits and baubles packaged up in a pretty crocheted heart.

DSC_0248

I sent her some vintage lace. Some was wrapped around a wooden spool that I embellished with distressed vintage paper and some lace was just rolled up and tied with seam binding.

DSC_0272 (2)

I sent her some vintage velvet in various colors, hand stamped muslin ribbon, vintage bling and post cards.

DSC_0253 (2)

Do you think Leslie is going to like all this?

There's more...let's see...

I sent her some vintage lace wrapped around handmade tags and clipped with bling.

I also sent her one of my favorite vintage door handle back plates! I just love the ornate-ness (is that a word?) of the old ones, especially if they still have the old paint on them like this one does  :)

DSC_0260 (2)

I sent her bundles of various colored crinkled seam binding tied together with a "wish" ticket.

DSC_0269 (2)

And lots more that I stuffed in without photographing.

I just couldn't wait to get it in the mail to her...but it was hard for me to actually take it off my wall and box it up.

It was so pretty hanging next to my inspiration board, filled with lovely gifts from my many MANY blog friends :)))

DSC_0308

Aaaahhh, the joys of swapping...I just love it  :)

DSC_0313 (2)

Well, that's all folks.

I'll show you what Leslie made me when I receive it.

I'm so excited, I cannot wait!   :)))

If you want to see more pretty pockets, you can visit Jessica (hopefully she'll put a link up with all of the participants so we can be nosey and go see what everyone else made) and you can find more photos in the Flickr Group.

Thanks to Jessica for hosting such a fun swap :)))

*****

Just like these pockets above, my heart is overflowing with love and gratitude to all of you for always stopping in to check on me and see what I'm up to.

It's because of your encouragement and sweet comments/emails that I continue to create, photograph, write and share my days with you!!!!

Thank You!!!!

~Have a WONDERFUL weekend~

:)

Dear Jodie, QUEEN of POCKET WALL HANGERS, this is YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY and just SO GORGEOUS! You have put those quilts again to very good use, girl! I tell you, the quilts that just lay on a bed will get very jealous when they see what they could have become if you and your scissors had gotten hold of them. Leslie must be over the moon about it and all the fabulous treasures that came with it.
Have a wonderful day!
Lots of big hugs,
Julia

Jodie, the proper adjectives do not exist to properly convey how stunningly gorgeous I think this is!!! It is a work of ART and you should be doing this for some huge company who could mass produce this gorgeousness so we ALL could have some of your unbelievable talent hanging in our homes!!

Seriously...everything you do makes my jaw drop! You have SUCH great vision and you attention to detail is nothing less than perfection!!

My heart breaks for your gorgeous Louisiana coast as we brace over here in Alabama for the disgusting oil that is washing up on our sugary white beaches at this moment! Saying many, many, MANY prayers!!

Thanks for your comments on the new-old house. It all happened so fast I am still trying to process everything. We started on this endeavor a month ago and here we are moving in! We spent today painting:). We haven't listed Terra Cottage yet so we need to get moved as quickly as we can. Kramer seems to be taking it well (check in next week for more on that). Your room will be the middle bedroom and you are always welcome!!!

Blessings dear friend,

So wishing I was your swap partner about now, LOL. I think we love the same kinds if things. I'm totally into that door plate with the paint on it, oh yeah! Where do you find these swaps? I've been wanting to get in on one like this with people that like the same things as I do, I have one heck of a stash going on and it would be neat to exchange and get some fresh items. I've been thinking about starting a destash round robbin, where I start a box and it gets mailed all around to people who sign up and you take something out and put something in etc. Don't know if anyone would be interested in that or not. Thanks for sharing all the goodies, Have a great day!
