There's just something special about surprises...

You all know that I ADORE my mailman, right?

He delivers my mail {at work} at precisely 1:20 every day, rain or shine and always with a smile on his face.

When he has a package for us, he drives right up to the front door and toots his horn. I drop everything and run to his little mail truck, totally giddy ... just like a little kid waiting for ice cream.

However, the last time he tooted his horn at the front door, I was about to chew out The Man for ordering something off of eBay as I (being the angel that I am) haven't bought anything lately ;)

But to my surprise, this package WAS for ME and it was from a sweet sweet BBF (best blog friend).

However, the unopened delivery sat on my desk for almost two weeks. I was coming off of my "Savannah high" and I wanted to be able to savor the moment of opening the surprise that was inside.

That moment was yesterday. I finally opened the box...

Tucked inside was a beautiful old photo.

A cabinet card encased in the most beautiful vintage matted frame.

I have an addiction a love for cabinet cards and she knew that.

She also knew that each and every cabinet card that I own is part of my "extended family".

What she didn't know is how much she touched my heart...not only with her thoughtfulness, but also with her words.

(I think the photo is clear enough for you to read her sweet card)

So I would really like you to meet Nana.

Sandi's Nana.

My new Nana.

This photo of Nana is the only cabinet card that Sandi owns, and she loved me enough to make a copy of her and send her to me :)

In my heart, that makes Sandi and I related as we now share the same Nana!   ;)

There's just something special about surprises, don't you think?

I now understand why you live in Louisiana...you have the patience of a saint! Girl...I chew through the tape if I have to. I cannot wait to tear into a package.
What a beautiful gift of love. You are one blessed woman!

P.S. BTW...Nana is one beautiful lady too!

Debby said...

Jodie, how can you? I couldn't wait that long to open a package if my life depended on it. It was so worth the wait though! Nana is very beautiful and Sandi sounds like a real sweetie. My mailman knows how nuts I am, if I get a package and owe duty on it, which happens frequently here in Canada, he just throws the cash in for me and drops the parcel as he knows he will catch me waiting at the door his next trip through. LOL...

You are so sweet and kind it doesn't surprise me at all that you get special gifts in the mail.

Hugs,
Debby

Hi Jodie,
How in the world did you have the willpower to wait for a week to open a package! I would have that baby ripped apart in two seconds flat!
I guess all good things are worth waiting for and your gift is wonderful. Nana is a pretty coool lookin chick, don't ya think?
