I'm all Signed up for Savannah...

I have to tell you about an Art Retreat that I signed up for last year. Back then, it seemed like "forever" that it would come but now since we are already in February, it's right around the corner!!!

Jennifer Hayslip

is hosting her second Art Retreat,

Petticoats and Parasols

6a00e008ccd3ca88340120a7a482e5970b-800wi

in beautiful

Savannah, Georgia on April 22-25th.

Isn't this just the sweetest little image???

I'm so excited because I've never been to Savannah. I am flying in a day early, along with my friend and roommate Karen DeCapite of Some Days are Diamonds.

I've never met Karen in person but I have to tell you, it was love at first blog post!

She's one heck of a crazy California girl!  ;)

We hope to get a good head start on some shopping and soak in some history of one of the oldest cities in America.

Jennifer has a wonderful schedule for us. We are starting off with a bang Thursday night (Welcome Night) as our guest speaker will be the beloved Jo Packham of Where Women Create.

I was fortunate enough to meet Jo last year at Silver Bella. She wooed all of us girls and left us in tears. I could have listened to her speak all evening. She is awesome. I dragged 3 hard copies of her book and her one year anniversary magazine from Louisiana for her to sign. I stood in line and waited patiently for a photo with her.

Yes...I am a HUGE fan of hers and it was worth the fear of an extra fee for the 50+ pound luggage! ;)

Picture 028 (2)

My gosh Jo is such a Sweetie. I'm so happy I'll be seeing her again in just a few short months. I'm looking forward to hearing her speak again. She is just so down to earth and SO REAL. If ever I wished I had a neighbor, I wish it was her!

And of course, Jennifer has many other treats for us girls. You can click on the Petticoats and Parasols icon above and read all about it if you'd like. She only has a total of 50 spots available and I hear it's filling up quick. I missed her first event in the Spring of last year and I was determined not to miss this one. She's quite the Southern Belle Hostess from what I hear :) Oh I can't wait.

So now that the retreat nearing, I'm looking forward to seeing friends that I know, making new ones, having the privilege of seeing Jo again and most of all, meeting Karen in person and spending a fun filled creative weekend with her. Truth be told here, she was the reason why I signed up...she twisted my arm, all in a matter of 5 minutes over an email.

It was a done deal, and now we are ready for Savannah Baby! Lawd help us!!!!  ;)

*****

First things first though,

1. Saints need to win the Super Bowl this Sunday

2. Share some love on Valentine's Day

3. Celebrate Mardi Gras (Tuesday, February 16)

4. Survive the Lenten season and celebrate Easter

And anything above and beyond and in between now and then is lagniappe!!!

Hi Jodi. Oh how I would love to be there. You'll love Savannah. I live about 2 hours away in Florida and have visited often but I would love to have a whole week there to poke around and see a lot of the places outside of the city. I know you'll have a wonderful time. And by the looks of Jennifer's photos from last years party, it will be a grand affair to remember. Take lots of pictures for us.

Hugs...Tracy :)

Ah Jodie,
Savannah is my most favorite city!! In fact after my husband's and my first time there, my daughter was pregnant and decided to name our first grand daughter, Savannah. I have actually taken my Savannah to Savannah twice and both time the blues singer Gail Thurman of the Pink House Restaurant, has personally sang to my Savannah...so cool. If you get a chance go to the Pink House..the bar is below the restaurant..some real spirits in this place...whew!
Hope you have a fabulous time..have some "oysters on the half" down by the port for me!

Hey there Jodie, what a fabulous time you will have. I almost signed up for it (Savannah has always been on my list of places to visit) but decided to save my pennies this year instead. I can't wait to hear all about it. That's AFTER the Saints win the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras is over, right?! Yes, February is a great month!

Hi Jodie. So glad to have you back visiting again. Thanks for your lovely birthday wishes -- your gifts of happiness and satisfaction are the best. Savannah is beautiful! I havent' been there in many a moon (and when I did go it was with my ex) but love history, the old homes and the restaurants. You are gonna have all that wrapped up in a very creative event with wonderful women which is gonna make it even more special (no ex's involved. HA!) Have a great day. Blessings, Tammy ps GEAUX SAINTS

Girly girl, you must have wheels on your rear with all this traveling you are doing! I think, no I know, I am jealous!
If you really want to see Jo again and since you are burning up the highways and airways...why don't you come on down to Zapp on the first Sunday and see her (and ME) at the blog party? What do you say...is it a date? I'll bring the C&C!

Savannah is a beautiful city! (I did a post on Savannah just a few weeks ago) Do try the Old Pink House for dinner if you can one night, and I would also recommend a daytime drive out to Tybee Island - such a pretty beachy place just a very short drive from the city. Oh, and the shops along the river are so much fun - especially the candy one! Have a great time!

WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO! JODIE!

Look out! Ladies - out of our way - we have some SERIOUS shopping to do! And a FULL day of crafting - yes! OMG I can't wait!
Girl - we are going to have such a good time!
I'm already saving my pennies for the antique stores. I cannot wait to actually give you a hug in person . . . I think we are going to scream - yes? When I met Cindy and CeeKay in AZ, I didn't even have a chance to put my purse down for like 10 mins. (I hope I have a chance to a least set my luggage on the floor before we start in!)

OK, now we have to settle down and do some serious cheering for the Saints on Sunday. We are going to Joy's for their annual SuperBowl party and I told her husband "Outta my way - move over - I am actually going to watch this game!" :)

Mardi Gras - you are just going to have to explain it all to me when I see you. I am a So Cal girl after all.

LOVE YOU TONS!!!!! Hugs! Karen :)
