Something is Calling My Name...

in the most soothing, inviting and most tempting tones.

DSC_0015 (3)

On December 31st, 2009 ~ I punched the time clock on my way out...

I have never returned to creativity.

DSC_0014 (2)

However, my mind is working overtime as I have all of these awesome ideas but...

Time stands still.

DSC_0029 (3)

I catch myself abusing hours and hours of possible accomplishment and in return...

Nothing is accomplished.

DSC_0026 (3)

Is it my inner voice telling me that I am nothing without creativity?

No, wait...

DSC_0016 (2)

I hear it again, maybe a little louder this time but still tempting all the same...sssshhhh...

Do you hear it too?

DSC_0022 (3)

I am going for it.

I am following the temptation.

DSC_0012 (2)

My Studio is calling...

It's time for me to punch in again...

To be productive.

To be creative.

To be me.

Sometimes, we just have to listen closely...what do you hear?

We all need time, once in a while, to rejuvenate and replenish our creative juices.

Looking forward to seeing what your fallow period brings to fruition!

Jodie I just saw your feature in the magazine, so wonderful! You have had an incredibly difficult fall and you needed some "down time". That's the way it is, we KNOW when it's time to move forward. You're ready now! These are beautiful images and I'm sure the art will just pour out of you.
Thank you dear, for the lovely comment you left. It brought tears to my eyes. Love You!!!

Jodie,
When I hear my name like that, it usually means me tearing things apart to find what my inspiration will be. It always is in a different directions that I think it is going to be!! I know from taking car of my Mom for those 3 and 1/2 years that my "down time" was delayed..I seemed to have stayed busy making sure all my family was okay before I "crashed"...funny it took a cruise for my husband and I too. But once those juices started coming...it was a flood gate...ha ha! Be you.. cause you're an amazing talent!!
My best

It's good to be back, isn't it? We all need a little R&R now and again. :) You sound rested and rejuvenated...ready to tackle the world!

Welcome back to the land of creativity! All of us have our dry spells...times that we just want to "be still." I know I do. Here's to you using your time to BE CREATIVE!

As artists, we can't go too long with denying ourselves the pleasure of being creative. We create even when we're not actually creating! When ideas well up to the top, we head back to the studio. It's always there waiting patiently for us to muddle through the life part, and weed through the annoying parts, so that we can run, with arms wide open, back to the interesting part....creating! You go girl!

gorgeous post Jodie...it made me a little sad though too...i have such a yearning to create right now...but i am in such a slump...i have tried to sit down and make some things with results that were less than stellar...these winter blues are the pits!!!

Lou Cinda @ Tattered Hydrangeas said...

Well I can't even wait to see what you create now that your juices are flowing again! I know it will be magnificent!!

Beautiful photos!

I agree with Lori, for me it is the winter blues. I have things on my table, can't drag myself up the stairs to the studio, that I just pick up an do a little and put back. Thank goodness I have no deadlines. Am working on a painting for GD using some Twilight themes.

So glad the studio is calling you again! I know what those periods of inactivity are like - maybe it is just the opportunity to rest, recharge and come back stronger than ever!

Jodie, If you weren't so busy cruisin'...just kidding. i know your muse will call you out. BTW Saw Sandy's pic with Anna Corba on the WWC blog. Ms. Glamour Apron is getting as famous as you. Now I guess I have two autographs to get! Man, I won't be able to live with the two of you, tee hee.

Oh Jodie, what can I do for you, if we were closer I would come over and we get creative and craft together!!! How about something on line? I saw the beautiful paper wreath Dawn made, it made me feel like getting in the craft room and create!!!!
I am sure you will be making beautiful things soon, look at all those scrumptious goodies!!!

Hi Jodie,
I keep making lists and lists of things I want to make, but that's all I've been doing is making the list. I did clean up in the studio the other day and I found my sewing machine, so that's where I'll probably start. I think I'll sew 'something'. Maybe from my list.
Your photos are art (who says you haven't been creating)!
I loved reading about the great time you had on the cruise, and I asked Dale if there was some law on the books somewhere saying it was against the law to have that much fun. He's still reading...hasn't come up with anything yet, but when he does, I swear, I'm sending him after you!

Well if words are a barometer of what's coming...bring it on 'cause you sure said it beautifully.
I think a little creative therapy is just what you need now and I can't wait to see where your mind takes me.
BTW...I try not to listen to the voices in my head...even when they're having conversations. It's not polite to eavesdrop!
Debbie
P.S. I bet there won't be any creating on Sunday will there...just alot of shouting!

Hi again Jodie! Missed you while you were away. I only made it halfway through your last post so need to still finish that one up. Looks like you had a fantastic time. I can't believe you didn't do those stairs! Hiking, especially in another country or new area is just my favorite thing to do, stairs and all, the more the better. Being outdoors is just so rejuvenating to me, but the outdoors in Kuwait just isn't quite as pleasant. I am glad you had time to rest and recharge and look forward to seeing what you create in the very near future. We all need down time and you've been through a lot in the past year. I hope you are having a most wonderful weekend and those creative juices are swirling and twirling for something completely fabulous! Blessings, Tammy

Hey Jodie, I enjoyed your post today and the images are wonderful. I love sepia and the nostalgic element it brings.

For me when I am pulled and nothing seems to be productive it works to go back to the very thing that you began with whether it be in fibres, papers, paints, metals or whatever and I usually spin off from there. I go through those periods where I want to piddle with everything and learn, then I can always again find my muse and realize I'm "home" when I return to my first love.

Can't wait to see yours! XXMollye

This is great! :)

For me, my creativity IS my writing. I need to finish my February column and will do that this week.

For today, the inner voice is saying --- rest. Our weekend flew by since we were at the WINTER JAM yesterday and my physical voice could use some rest today after all of the cheering last night. ;)

Hope you have a great, creative week!
