Sweet Dreams in New Orleans…

I had a safe trip to the airport and believe it or not…I never had to turn on my windshield wipers, not even once! With the west bound lanes bumper to bumper, heading east (towards Hurricane Ida) was pretty easy going. At times, I was wondering…what the heck was I thinking??? But Ida turned further east and fell apart, leaving a mess of rain in our neighboring eastern states.

I promised I’d take you along to Silver Bella with me so let me update you how my night was in New Orleans…

Picture 008

I was soooo pampered at my hotel…

Picture 007

Are you thinking that these are photos of my hotel room? Gosh no!!! I know I just told you that I was pampered ~ but not by Comfort Suites!!! ;) Instead I was pampered by my sister Karen. She sent me a book before my birthday and I’ve never had the chance to read it. So it was the first thing I packed as I knew I’d be relaxing while traveling to Silver Bella.

Picture 001

The book is by Country Living called A Bit of Velvet and a A Dash of Lace…The Fabulous Interiors of Magnolia Pearl.

Picture 005

I was enthralled with each and every word and in total ecstasy with each photo. This book is absolutely gorgeous!!!! If you don’t have it already…it should be on your “wish list”.

Picture 004

Karen wrote little notes inside, expressing my sentiments exactly. She’s such a sweetie and if I haven’t said it a million times already, I’ll say it again…SHE SPOILS ME…rotten!  :)

Picture 006

In the book, Magnolia Pearl gives the most awesome tips! I’m going to let you in a few but if you want to know more, you’ll have to run to the store and buy the book. (or get a sweet sister like mine who buys you one! ;)

I love me some tea staining…don’t you???

Picture 003

If I had some gorgeous lace and linens like these above, I wouldn’t be on this computer right now…I’d be standing over a pot of hot tea right about now! ;)

Magnolia Pearl also gives tips on how to make garden gates out of iron beds and how to make window treatments out of vintage lace.

I love her story on Vintage vs. Antiques. She says that Antiques are 100 years old and older. She describes Vintage as something not quite as old but sentimental…I just love that!

The book is a must get. I can’t wait to get home so that I can flip through it again and read a little more slowly, maybe I missed something special.

Oh speaking of flipping through beautiful pages…I took a couple of photos on the flight from New Orleans to my Chicago layover…

Picture 003

I was reading the latest issue of Where Women Create and loving my favorite artist’s (Sandra Evertson) article, Studio Chic. She’s just plain fascinating, whimsical, and oh so ever talented. I even enjoyed celebrating Sandra’s article over a mixed drink…or two ;)

Picture 002

As I type this post, I’m sitting in the Chicago Midway Airport and I’m people watching…my favorite thing in the world to do. I must be the only person in the whole airport wearing shorts and crocs in Chicago…like it’s cold outside or something ;) Heck I wouldn’t know. When I flew out this morning, it was a whopping 74 degrees with 90% humidity. Do you think it’s obvious that I’m from Louisiana? ;)

And lastly, speaking of Louisiana, I just love the New Orleans Airport…I love our state. It’s so full of enthusiasm and personality everywhere you look…

The day was overcast and gloomy…

Picture 001

But once we got over the clouds…it was smooth and beautiful!!!

Picture 008

And I’m sure once I touch down in Omaha, enter the Embassy Suites and spot some Bellas, my day will be even more brighter!

I’ll try and touch in with you tomorrow. Glad I could take you along for the flight!!!!

Hope your week is wonderful and remember….don’t do anything fun without me! I really don’t have time to touch base with anyone so let me know if I’m missing something fun!!!! Oh well, maybe what I don’t know won’t hurt me ;)

Your sister is a sweetheart. It's so nice when someone knows you so well and can spoil you with the perfect gift and make it especially personal by writing little notes throughout. Fantastic! The book looks like something to flip through again and again and again. Your trip seems to be going smoothly. Thanks for sharing with us. Have a great time! :) Tammy

To others it might be quite normal but it keeps me amazing in a very pleasant way that I jump out of bed, do a few tasks and then jump into a plane from Louisiana to Chigaco and read a book that I want to have myself now too! You did a great job Jodi, taking me along with you, because I love to travel and people watching is a hobby of mine too. Haha I love to see you traveling with crocs, I'm wearing my special edition 'Mickey holed' crocs right now too. When I traveled from NYC to Miami I wore my new UGGS, as there wasn't any room for them in my luggage as it was more than 80 degrees in Miami I decided to wear them without socks. When I put them off in my hotelroom in Miami the dye from the boot made a boot on my leg, my UGGS are black! Hehehe, better wear my crocs again next time! Have a fab time on Silver Bella! Thanks for taking me with you, I am enjoying every minute so far!

You are going to have such a good time at Silver Bella...now I was thinking...I'm just a short 2 or 3 hour drive from Omaha...extend your trip and drive down to Kansas City to visit!! I'm sure we could stir up a lot of trouble (fun trouble of course).
Enjoy the midwest!!

Thanks for the great, fun, update! :)

I live 2 hours south of Chicago and I wear shorts, skirts, and camis with barefeet around the house and in the yard year round (yes, even in the winter months). It has to be about 0 degrees before I'll even wear a coat. I'm just not easily cold and I'm more comfortable this way. Today, I'm wearing a sleeveless top to work and my "coat" was my light sweater (it was 32 out this morning), going up to 60's. :)

Jodie this looks so fun! I am enjoying every picture in your post today. I LOVE that book. I took the iron bed gate idea and ran with it this past Summer and now have one of those cute little gates in my yard.
I hope you have the time of your life.

Hea Jodie, yes, you are missing alot of fun here at my house. I have had the flu.

I feel like I'm leaving on the plane for Omaha. I've never been there. That magazine sounds like the perfect Vintage for me. Gotta find it.

Be safe and don't sit your camera down.

Thanks for taking us along. Your a very giving person. I like you!
