Birthday MONTH: Day 29

I'd like to introduce you to Scotty...

He is my nephew on my husband's side of the family. Isn't he just the cutest thing? He's sure to put a smile on your face as he did to me yesterday.

LIFE was a little out of my control but today is a better day so I wanted to share a sweet gift that was given to me by his mother, my sister-in-law Belinda.

I'll let you in on a quirky tidbit about me: A way to my heart is through my tummy! Call me a dog or whatever, it's the truth.

So when Belinda called yesterday morning in the middle of Dad's surgery and said that she was cooking a birthday lunch for me, I was so excited! Thad's family loves "healthy" food but as for me, I'm a junk food junky. I have no shame admitting this. My favorite recipe is jumping in my car and heading for Taco Bell, Burger King, Wendy's, McDonald's...basically anywhere where they take your money and give you food through a window.

She had the coolest taco spread...sort of like a taco buffet!

Salsa, sour cream, tomatoes, cabbage, green onions, lettuce, CHEESE, refried beans, soft shells, crunchy shells, jalapenos...did I mention CHEESE?

I LOVE tacos...and low and behold...I wasn't the only one who woofed down 3 tacos. Thad had TWO plates full and his mother ate pretty good too. So much for all that healthy food! haha We had a wonderful lunch and I rested on the couch with Scotty by my side giving me some sweet loving little licks on my cheek. {sigh} This was just what I needed.

So with that said, let me go back for a second here to the 1st day in October, which is my REAL BIRTH DATE ~ October 1st. (Lee, I hope you are reading this...October 1st is my real birth date! Now I've told you more than once! ha ha)

Belinda gave me this present for my birthday...

DSC_0096

It's a sweet little accordion folder box. At first I was going to store some of my ephemera and special papers in it...but after opening ALL of my birthday presents from my sister Karen, I realized that I needed something to hold all of my recycled tissues.

Each present must have had 10 tissues in each and I wanted to save them for other gifts. {Do ya'll do this too or am I the only cheapo in the world?}

So...I decided to color code the tissues and store them for safe keeping in my new accordion folder box from Belinda!

Now I have all of my colored tissues at my finger tips...ready for wrapping!!!! I just LOVE it! My very own tissue carrying case! ;)

Oh, my Birthday MONTH has been sooooo fun, even through the trials along the way. Thank you for the sweetest of comments everyday!!!! You've made my month so special!!!! Only two more days to go after today, then a new month arrives. Who knows what November brings but I think I'm ready for it. Thanks to you!

Did you know that Linda will be celebrating her Birthday MONTH during November? Yay!!!! She is a wonderful writer/journalist and life with her daughter is such a treat to read. She was one of my first blog friends to be inducted into my blog family!!!

Also, yesterday was a trying day and I didn't mention a friend's birthday. NOT that I forgot because I sent her a special Happy Birthday email, but my post just wasn't too positive yesterday and I feel bad about that. I want to wish a "day after" Happy Birthday to Sandi, the Impatient Cajun.

And today I'd like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Stan, The Elegant Thrifter. He's a published author of his very own book and a wonderful blogger too! I always love to visit him...he's so full of thrifty surprises!

And last but not least, I'd like to hope that YOU are having a wonderful day today too. Even though it may not be your birthday, know that I'm thinking of you anyway!!!!!

You know what to do with these lemons right?

Let's make some lemonade! ;)

Jodie,
I have always heard the phrase "A way to a man's heart is through his tummy" So does that mean I will have to call you a man....?

Some times you have to tell us seniors more than once, I think it finally stuck this time.

Jodie LeJeune was born on October 1st, what was that year?

The food looked great! and oh Scottie is adorable.
You're a sweety.

Girl, you just don't know, but I have an entire Rubbermaid container (Big) to store my tissue. Also, by color. I have containers for ribbon, gift bags, etc. I could open my own store with all I have.

Regarding the lemons, lets put lots of sugar and ice when making that lemonade.

Happy Birthday.

Sandi

Good Girl! I drove all the way to Phoenix today and thought of you often. The drive went pretty quick! Course at one point I was rocking out to Michael Jackson, I swear the guys in the car next to me must've thought I was out of my mind when "off the Wall" came on the 70s station. My sunroof was open, and I was singing as loud as I could. Then sang every word to every song of my John Denver's greatest hits. Love it - Gee can you tell from my blogname that I LOVE John Denver? Yup, it's one of his songs. OK, you admitted you love fast food, I admitted I love John Denver . . . all is well.
So I cannot wait until my surprise tomorrow. Only one person knows I am here, and there are going to be two ladies that are REALLY surprised when I show up! Ahhhh the joys of meeting fellow bloggers.
You! Me! April! Savannah! I can't wait!
So glad you are having a better day. Big sigh.
Off to find something to eat around here, I'm thinking a burger and fries and a glass of wine (Who me? - did I say wine?) . . . and veg out for the rest of the night. WHOO HOO!!!!
BIG HUGS! Karen

So happy your month has been wonderful for you. Of course! I save all the paper & reuse it, it irons out real well, the wrinkles, chuckle!

You & Karen have a grand time in Phoenix, for the gathering tomorrow ... please give Sherry a BIG HUG for me.

Have a BOO-tea-FUL weekend. TTFN ~ Marydon

I'm happy to hear today went much better for you. I'm sure that taco spread and Scotty kisses helped tremendously. I like your idea for your new file. Tissue paper can be a hard thing to place somewhere that it won't get torn or wrinkled beyond belief. I hope happier days are ahead for you, even if there is only two more left in your Birthday month. By the way, I NEVER would have been able to show so much restraint in opening my gifts! They'd have been gone by day
3 or 4!!!

Girl, you certainly have the gift for gab. Your posts are always so thought provoking and wonderfully written. Glad you had a better day. The taco buffet looks great -- my kids would have been happy to attack it. I don't do tacos much around here as I try to do the healthy thing like Thad's family. ;) There is no doubt that kisses from Scotty made all right with the world, epecially after your belly was full. And no, you are not the only cheapo! Everyone knows that I recycle -- tissue paper, wrapping paper, ribbon. It can always be used for another gift down the road or for scrapbooking so I store it all away. Great idea for the accordian file and it is so pretty to look at, too. I need to organize all my stuff. That's always a work in progress. So you are off to Phoenix! Sounds divine! Enjoy your time and best wishes to you always, :) Tammy

I'm so glad you had such a splendid month of gifts. You deserve each and every one and more. I'm glad that you had this marvelous lunch yesterday - looks delicious and we are such a fan of tacos. :)

Hope your weekend is filled with many festivities ... Scotty, by the way, is absolutely adorable!
