Thrift Shop Saturday...

Oh today was a wonderful day! I slept late. When I woke, the sun was shining and it wasn't that hot outside. I decided this was certainly a day to be outside and that is just what I did. I jumped in my little black Corvette and cruised out of town. While listening to some Elton John, I took some back roads and stopped to snap this old beauty...

DSC_0055 (2) and this one too...

Can you imagine the stories these old shells could tell of the people who walked in and out of those doors? on those porches?

Okay, back to my wonderful day...{I stray, please be patient!}

Finally I ended up here... BAYOU SOME STUFF

DSC_0033 (2)

Curious about her truck right? Don't squint! Here's a close up...

DSC_0034 (2)

Her name is Marvel. No, not the truck silly...

DSC_0051 (2)

Marvel is the owner of the store. {she's on the right} Peace Baby!

I think she's stuck in the 60's and that's okay because she's just the sweetest thing! She "master-pEAced" the truck herself. It surely reflects her personality which made shopping lots of .... FUN!!

DSC_0035 (2)

So after asking if I could take pictures, which she kindly obliged, this was my first glimpse of the inside of her shop...

DSC_0050 (2)

Is it getting to much for you? Too much peace right? Okay, I'll turn it down a little {okay, a LOT} and just show you my favorites...

I am a freak for OLD school yearbooks. Don't ask me as I don't know why. I love looking at the old fashions and hair do's. I love wondering what happened to the smartest kid in the class, etc.

DSC_0040 (2)

However, I refrained myself. I did not purchase one. I promise! ;)

How 'bout this? I love old class pictures as much as old yearbooks!

DSC_0038 (2)

And old books! She had shelves full...totally interesting!!!

DSC_0046 (2)

If you look closely above, the black book on the left...Nursing Mental Disease almost came home with me...I love the title! I said 'almost'. It's still on the shelf. I decided not to get it because I might learn something that I wish I hadn't. And besides, hubby would question that one! ;)

DSC_0047 (2)

But then I could have bought Sunny and Gay...or the Textbook of Healthful Living to balance everything out, right? Okay, I didn't think so either so I left them all there. I promise ;) Really!

But I did buy these 3 things below which I love {and they were safe to take home with no explaining to do!}

DSC_0058 (2)

An old rhinestone belt full of yummy bling!!!!

An old view finder card of Luna Park {Coney Island} New York

And an old book of  Familiar Quotations

DSC_0059 (2)

So I'll leave ya with a quote or two... Let's see here what would be fitting for today's finds...

DSC_0061

I'll also leave you with a thought about Marvel's business card.

DSC_0060 (2)

I'm not sure what thesaurus she used when she was spelling "Come dig through the stuff"...hmmm. Like I said, she's stuck in the 60's.

Thanks for coming along with me! As you can see, I'm certainly not a 60's kind of gal but I do love her truck! And my goodies!

So tell me, what did YOU do today????

What a fun place!!! It would take me days to go through all of the treasures in there (and I would not have been as disciplined as you-I'm a bit of a shopaholic-your restraint in leaving so many tempting gooodies behind inspires me:) I love the truck! I applaud people who stay true to themselves regardless of the decade:)

Great post, I just love places like that I could spend all day looking at the "cool" (very 60's)stuff. The treasures you brought home are fab, and I love the comment "with no explaining to do". I posting your teacup photo this aft, finally catching up on my blogging, hmmmmmmmm maybe I have been playing with pinks and greens too much this weekend:)

Hey sweetie!

Thank you so much for making this Cajun homesick! :) I crossed the great Sabine and married a Texan 30 years ago....but, like ya said, you make take the gal out of the bayou but ya can't take the bayou out of the gal! :)

I was born and raised in Libouse and lived on the bayou (central LA). Not far from Cotton Island...

Thanks for stoppin' by and if you are ever in Houston...make sure you stop by for some porch sittin' and iced tea! xo...deb
